Classic 4×4 number puzzle
Play 2048 Online Free
2048 is a sliding tile game built around one simple rule: equal numbers merge. A pair of 2 tiles creates 4, two 4s create 8, and the chain continues toward the 2048 tile. Every valid move also introduces a new 2 or 4, so the real challenge is creating merge paths without filling the 4×4 board.
Start with three habits
Choose one corner for the largest tile, keep the nearby row or column ordered and protect open cells. These habits make the next merge easier to predict.
Score beyond the first win
Reaching 2048 is a milestone, not the only goal. Continue the run to build 4096 and higher tiles while every successful merge adds points.
Compete on equal terms
Leaderboard submissions are tied to a game session and checked before acceptance. Rankings use score, then submission time when two scores are equal.
A Simple Beginner Plan
- Play one run to learn how a full-board swipe moves every tile.
- Keep your highest tile in the same corner for the next run.
- Use two safe directions most of the time and a third only when needed.
- Compare the run with the common mistakes guide, then practise one correction at a time.
