2048 Source, License and Credits

The classic 2048 browser game was created by Gabriele Cirulli and shared as open-source software under the MIT License.

The repository credits Saming’s 2048 and Veewo Studio’s 1024, and notes conceptual similarity to the sliding puzzle Threes. Those credits are part of the game’s history and should remain visible when discussing its origin.

MIT License

The original repository is distributed under the MIT License. In practical terms, the license allows use, copying, modification and distribution of the covered software when its copyright and permission notice are preserved. The linked license text is the authoritative wording.

This Independent Website

2048game.online is not the official website of Gabriele Cirulli. It is an independent, fan-made presentation that uses the familiar open-source puzzle foundation and adds its own site design, explanatory guides, server-side session checks and Top 100 leaderboard.

The original MIT License applies to the software covered by that project. It does not automatically place this site’s original articles, branding, private configuration, database or separate server features under the same license.
